Overview
The Raspberry Pi Pico 2 is the latest microcontroller board built on the high-performance and secure RP2350 chip. With a faster core clock speed of 150MHz, doubled on-chip SRAM about 530 KB and 4 MB of on-board flash memory, enhanced Arm cores, optional dual RISC-V cores, advanced security features, and upgraded interfacing capabilities, the Pico 2 offers a substantial performance increase and feature boost while maintaining compatibility with previous Pico series.
The RP2350 chip provides a robust security architecture centered around Arm TrustZone for Cortex-M, incorporating signed boot, 8KB of antifuse OTP for key storage, SHA256 acceleration, a hardware TRNG, and fast glitch detectors. Unlike the "security through obscurity" approach often used by old vendors.
The RP2350's unique dual-core, dual-architecture capability allows users to choose between a pair of industry-standard Arm Cortex-M33 cores or a pair of open-hardware Hazard3 RISC-V cores. Supported by C/C++ and Python programming makes the Pi Pico 2 a perfect microcontroller board for both enthusiasts and professional developers.
