Overview
The Raspberry Pi PoE+ HAT is an add-on board that brings the convenience of Power over Ethernet (PoE) to your Raspberry Pi boards including Raspberry Pi 5, Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 3B+. This means you can power your Pi board directly through the same Ethernet cable that provides network connectivity.
What is PoE?
Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a technology that integrates electrical power with data transmission over a single Ethernet cable. This eliminates the need for separate power cords, making it particularly advantageous for devices positioned in hard-to-reach locations or for situations where numerous devices require power.
Benefits of using a PoE+ HAT
- Simplified Setup: No need for separate power adapters (PSU).
- Remote Locations: Easily transmit power through ethernet cables to remote locations to power your raspberry pi baords.
- Increased Reliability: Power and network connectivity are combined in a single cable, reducing potential points of failure.
